Hi there, Iβm Susan and I share ideas & recipes that help busy home cooks find some calm in the kitchen, with help from my Instant Pot & gadget friends. I post here and on my YouTube channel and I hope I can help you find some simple ways to eat well and find some calm in this frantic world π§βπ³+π€=βΊοΈ
More about me
I have been cooking all of my life from a place of genuine love and enthusiasm. I don't come from a family of cooks - food found me. I'm in my late 50s now and have tried lots of diverse foods over the years. My eating style is always evolving to keep up with my life and health.
I suffered severe head injury and illness in my 30s and found my way back to health(ish) by keeping on cooking and finding shortcuts and hacks to eating well, even when I'd lost my sense of taste and smell and was very unwell.
I learned the true value of cooking from scratch in my own recovery process, in learning to live with chronic pain and also in being a carer of a parent with complex dementia
I am an experienced social worker (pre-head injury), have an honours degree in nutrition, and am an NHS trained mindfulness teacher - I understand the neurobiology and psychology of stress and how to take simple steps to improve life a little.
I love a gadget and have been cooking with Instant Pots, Air Fryers and the like for decades. I use high quality gadgets for cooking 'real food' rather than constant 'dump and go' or 'on trend hack' style recipes and throwaway gadgets.
Kindness, acceptance, compassion and sustainability are at the heart of everything I do. I am more and more 'plants forward' in my cooking style and, like many, I am eating in a more Mediterranean diet style these days, with home cooking at the centre.
